IDG Diamond & Gemstone Laboratory

Diamond Fundamentals Course

01

Introduction

IDG Training Center presents the Diamond Fundamentals Course, a professional training program that combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice, designed to prepare trainees to understand diamond fundamentals and grading standards according to global best practices. The course equips trainees with the knowledge needed to recognize diamond characteristics, distinguish between diamond types, use examination tools, and read laboratory reports professionally.

4Cs

Global Evaluation Standards (4Cs)

The internationally recognized evaluation and analysis system for determining the quality and purity of rare diamonds through four precisely crafted main pillars.

01

Cut

It determines how the diamond interacts with light; the perfect cut gives the stone the maximum sparkle and shine possible.

02

Color

It measures how free the diamond is from yellow or brown tones. The rarest and most valuable stones are completely colorless.

03

Clarity

It examines internal impurities and microscopic surface flaws. The fewer the impurities, the rarer and more valuable the diamond.

04

Carat

The unit of measurement for the weight of gemstones; as the size and weight of a diamond grow, its value rises exponentially due to the rarity of finding large sizes.

Approved inspection and documentation techniques

Tools used in the lab

We rely on a select group of the most precise and advanced laboratory equipment in the world to ensure the highest standards of quality and scientific documentation for every gemstone that passes through our labs.

Loupe

Professional lenses with 10x magnification and advanced color correction allow our gemstone experts to observe the tiniest internal flaws and surface features of diamonds with complete accuracy and clarity.

Master Stones

A set of world-class graded diamonds used as a fixed color reference to compare and determine color shades with absolute accuracy under controlled standard lighting conditions.

Micro Carat Scale

Highly sensitive electronic weighing devices, recording data with up to five decimal places, providing an extremely precise measurement of the stone's weight in standard carats.
